Foster Parent/Family Recruitment | Foster Family Program - Northern California Family Center

Recruits and provides foster family certification to enable families to be eligible to provide a crisis home for youth needing a safe environment for youths, ages 0 to 17, who are experiencing crisis while NCFC counselors work with the youth and family to reunite them, or develop mutually agreed upon alternatives. Also provides Long-term Foster care for children referred by Social Services in Contra Costa, Alameda, and Solano counties. To be eligible, family must possess the ability to relate effectively to and adequately supervise youth, have space to temporarily house one or more young people, possess the ability to be certified by the NCFC as a Foster Family, and pass child abuse and criminal background checks.

Recruits and trains resource family applicants; conducts family evaluations;, approves resource family homes for children ages birth to 18. The resource family approval process includes approximately 20 hours of pre-approval training. Ongoing training and support to resource families and children in placement. Provides adoption services for children birth-18 and special needs children.
